## Variation: Kelmscott press atlas spread

Kelmscott press design adapted to an atlas-style foldout with centered plate field, mirrored foliate borders, and dense marginal notes in archaic type.

This keeps the recognizable Kelmscott vocabulary—dense botanical ornament, heavy historic lettering, integrated page decoration—but changes the composition into an atlas foldout. The visible difference is the strong central image window and symmetrical side-margins, making the spread feel cartographic and archival rather than a conventional text page.

Original variation selected from research plan variation-kelmscott-press-book-design-exploration-1. Independent automated style and image review: The image clearly retains Kelmscott-style black-and-white ornamental density, historic letterpress framing, and integrated border ornament, while visibly reconfiguring the page into a centered atlas-like foldout plate. It has a strong central specimen field, mirrored left/right decorative columns, top and bottom ornamental bands, and a more diagrammatic, archival spatial hierarchy than a standard full-page book page. This is a meaningful compositional shift rather than a simple subject swap, and the natural-history plate-book application is visibly realized in the layout itself. Exact/perceptual checks passed. 1024px source enlarged to 1200px WebP; no human visual review.
